Pamela Kurau

Soprano Pamela Kurau is a frequent collaborator with many of Rochester’s finest musicians, resulting in performances with Chamber Music Rochester, Live from Hochstein broadcasts, Eastman Virtuosi and appearances on numerous faculty recitals at the Eastman School. She has performed as a soloist with the Detroit Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Youngstown Symphony, Rochester Oratorio Society, Rochester Opera Factory, and Opera Theatre of Rochester, among others. International solo and chamber music performances have taken her to Germany, Austria, Finland, Japan, China and South Korea. Her performance awards include a Performer’s Certificate in Opera from the Eastman School of Music and an opera fellowship from the Aspen Music Festival.
Recent appearances include a recital of music for guitar and voice at SUNY-Geneseo, the role of the Reciter in William Walton’s Façade with Chamber Music Rochester, and featured soloist in the Richard Pearlman Memorial Concert at the Eastman School. Upcoming performances include the role of the Mother in Mercury Opera’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, a Valentine’s day concert with pianist Gary Palmer at the Strong National Museum of Play, and the soprano soloist in Elijah with the Mansfield University Chorus and Orchestra, to be performed both at the university in Pennsylvania and the Corning Museum of Glass in New York.
Dr. Kurau is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, the University of Missouri, and, most recently, the Eastman School of Music. She serves on the faculties at the Eastman School, the State University of New York in Geneseo and the Hochstein School of Music and Dance.
