Jonathan Beyer, baritone

Jonathan Beyer has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Pittsburgh Opera, Dallas Opera, Oper Frankfurt, Austin Lyric Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, Hong Kong Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Opera Santa Barbara, Opera Grand Rapids, Knoxville Opera, Chautauqua Institution, Tanglewood Music Center, Accademia Verdiana, and Teatro di Verdi.

He has also appeared with the Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Lorin Maazel's Châvteauville Foundation, the Netherlands Radio Orchestra, and the Festival at Aix-en-Provence.

Upcoming engagements include Ping in TURANDOT and Nixon in NIXON IN CHINA with the Dallas Opera, Figaro in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA with Boston Lyric Opera, the Count in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO with Fort Worth Opera and Austin Lyric Opera, the Faure REQUIEM with the Colorado Symphony, and recitals with Tri-County Concerts and the Carnegie Hall Foundation.

Mr. Beyer was a National Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition, and was the 1st Place Winner at the Marian Anderson Prize for Emerging Classical Artists. He has also won the George London Foundation Competition, Sullivan Foundation Grant, Rochester's Classical Idol, Philadelphia Orchestra's Greenfield Competition, Astral Artist Auditions, Pittsburgh Concert Society Auditions, American Opera Society Competition, the San Antonio Opera Competition, the American Prize in Art Song and Opera, the Union League Civic and Arts Foundation Competition, and the Bel Canto Foundation. He has also received awards from the Solti Foundation, the Licia Albanese Puccini Foundation, National Opera Association, Mario Lanza Foundation, Dresden Opera Competition, and Neue Stimmen competitions.

An avid recitalist, Mr. Beyer has performed in recital with Craig Rutenberg, Mikael Eliasen, Kristin Okerlund, Martin Katz, and Brian Zeger. He has given recitals through the Vocal Arts Society, the Marilyn Horne Foundation, Carnegie Hall Foundation, Chicago Cultural Center, Judith Raskin Foundation, Bretlesmann Foundation, Pittsburgh Concert Society, and the Marian Anderson Foundation. He has degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
