Dinyar Vania has emerged in recent years as an exciting young tenor whose voice has been described as being both powerful and beautiful.
The 2008-09 season started with his very successful debut as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at Mobile Opera, followed by his debut with Mercury Opera of Rochester where he appeared as Cavaradossi in Tosca. Mr. Vania returns to the Knoxville Opera for his role debut as Il Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto. He will also perform Cavalleria Rusticana in concert with the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra, as well as return to the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra for concert performances of Tosca.
In 2007-08, Mr. Vania returned as Rodolpho in New York City Opera’s production of La Boheme, the role he sang later that season for his debut with Madison Opera. He also made company debuts at Dallas Opera and Sacramento Opera as Cavaradossi in Tosca. Mr. Vania also appeared in a holiday concert series with the Naples Philharmonic, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, and an all Verdi concert with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
Recent seasons include performances with Opera Cleveland as Alfredo in La Traviata, La Boheme with New York City Opera, Opera Roanoke, and Knoxville Opera, as well as Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor for Syracuse Opera and Cavaradossi in Toledo Opera’s production of Tosca.
Future appearances include Tosca with Mobile Opera and La Traviata with Mercury Opera of Rochester.
Mr. Vania celebrated his Carnegie Hall debut as the tenor soloist in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony as part of the Earthquake Relief Concert for India.
The beauty of his voice has garnered him Syracuse Opera’s “Artist of the Year” award, as well as First Place in the Giulio Gari Vocal Competition. He has also been awarded Second Prize in the Licia Albanese-Puccini Competition and was a Semi-Finalist in Placido Domingo’s Operalia in Madrid, Spain.
