Andrew Bawden is pleased to make his debut with Mercury Opera as King Melchior.
Originally from Illinois, Mr. Bawden is a Bronze Tablet Scholar and graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and is also a certified Alexander Technique teacher. His opera performances include roles in Die Zauberflöte, La Traviata, the Impressario, Gianni Schicchi, Madame Butterfly, Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti, and most recently in his debut with Opera Vivente of Baltimore as Ceprano in Rigoletto.
His solo oratorio engagements include the Duruflé Requiem, Händel’s Messiah, the Saint-Saëns Christmas Oratorio, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Mass in C minor, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, and Brahms’ A German Requiem.
Mr. Bawden began his graduate studies in voice performance this fall at the Eastman School of Music.
